Mesa Grande Academy is well known in the community for it's emphasis and strengths in academics. The majority of the students have high career goals and it is popluar for the students to do their very best. This can be demonstarated by how well MGA students do on tests that are taken every year. The ITBS / ITED test is given every fall to the students in grades 3 through 12. In preparation for college most of the seniors take either the SAT or ACT test.

Iowa Test of Basic Skills (ITBS) and Tests of Academic Proficiency (ITED): Academic acheivement at MGA can be shown by the ITBS / ITED scores taken each Fall in the 3rd through the 12th grades. The percentage of National Student Norms from the ITBS / ITED tests show that the students score above the national average (50%) and generally do better the longer they attend MGA. If one looks at the average scores for the last ten years compared to teh average for the last five years, one will notice that the scores have been improving.

ACT Testing:  MGA students take either the ACT or the SAT test for college entrance requirements. They consistently score better than State or National averages in areas tested. Some years there were very few students taking the ACT, which makes it diffficult to get a solid average for the class - (Note the years from 2000 - 2006). However, if one compares the average for the last ten years to the State and National averages, one gets a better comparison of Mesa Grande Academy students in relation to other students. The composite score for the MGA students is 22.9, compared to the State of California's composite of 21.5 and the National composite average of 21.0.

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT):  More MGA students take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for their college entrance requirements than the ACT. Students from MGA have always done well on this test, scoring above both the National and State levels. The ten-year average of the verbal SAT scores for MGA students is 534 compared to 498 (State) and 504 (National). The ten-year average of the math SAT scores for MGA students is 519 compared to 518 (State) and 515 (National).
